July 2005 contest Winners and Details

Royal CrescentCongratulations to Martha L. of MS! In July, I gave away an 8" x 10" print of the Royal Crescent, the street on which Ramsay Chadwick lived (smaller sample picture to the right). It will be unmatted and unframed, to keep postage costs down. All readers had to do is answer this question: What was in the center of the Sydney Gardens maze? (The answer was Merlin's swing.)

June 2005 contest Winners and Details

Bag and purseIn June, I gave away a pretty green bag and makeup purse. All entrants had to answer this question: In what city is Touched By Time set? This month's winner, Karen G. of Illinois, correctly answered it: Bath.

May 2005 Contest Winners and Details

This month's winner is Paul from Illinois, who will receive one of last month's Zebra Regency romances: Victoria Hinshaw's Ask Jane. Here are the poll results for our question: Where did you buy Dangerous To Know? Of those of you who have actually purchased Dangerous To Know, Barnes & Noble was the clear winner at 20%. Next was Borders at 10%, an independent bookstore (9%), Amazon.com and another chain bookstore came in even at 7%. 4% of entries said that bought DTK at another online bookstore and 1% bought it at the Mysterious Galaxy booksigning.

Here's the kicker: 28% of you said you hadn't bought it yet, but were planning to. (What are you waiting for? The book won't stay on the shelves forever!) and 13% of you said you didn't plan to buy it.

April 2005 Contest Winners and Details

Cover of DAvid Hobson CDDangerous To Know is out, and to celebrate, I'm gave away a CD by David Hobson called "French and Italian Arias". David Hobson is an Aussie tenor probably best known for his role in La Boheme which Baz Luhrmann brought to the States. He sings with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.

This time I conducted a poll. This month's question: 1) Where did you hear about Dangerous To Know first? (An easy question for my mailing list!)

The winner, picked via random drawing, is Linda C. from Ontario, Canada!

March 2005 Contest Winners and Details

We're warming up to the release date of Dangerous To Know, and to celebrate, I gave away two prizes: the first a vial of perfume from Victoria's Secret called "dream angels heavenly". According to the website, it has white peony and white musk in it. The perfume bottle stands about 3 inches high. (It is unused, but most of the packaging is gone. It was a gift I can't use, because my husband is allergic to commercial perfumes.)

The second prize was a fridge magnet of an Australian blue wren, made by an Australian artist, Wendy Binks of Stunned Emu Designs (click on the link for a hint of her work, it's truly bright, gorgeous and cute, for a better picture of one of her emus, go here: it's near the top of the right hand column). It's approximately 3 inches by 2 inches.

The contest question: What was Dangerous To Know's original title? The answer could be found on this website and is "Love Without Lechery". A surprising number of entries put down "The Redeemed Rake"!

The winners were picked via random drawing from correct answers on the 1st April. The perfume goes to Shirley B. from Missouri and the magnet goes to Annette T. from Illinois! Congratulations ladies!

November 2004 Contest Winner and Details

The contents include:MagnaScopic Maximum Volume mascara, nail lacquer ("Frozen Fantasy", dark pink), lipstick ("Filmstar", a dark plum), a palette of lipsticks of various colors, and a manicure set (scissors, nail clippers, and two other manicure things that I don't know the name of!). This contest was held to celebrate the release last month of Rainbow's Desire

September 2004 Contest

Announcing the winner of the CD is Jean from Pittsburgh, PA for her entry: If I told you what I was thinking I'd have to kill you because it's to "dangerous to know.". The question was: What is the hero thinking on the cover of Dangerous To Know? The other finalists were:

Hmmm, not bad. Now how can I get that off of her! (Debra)
Now what was that advice dear ol mom told me about redheaded women? (Jackie)
He's wondering, if he puts his finger over his chin, if he'll look more or less like Cary Grant :). (Gwen)
Would an epee or a rapier go better with this outfit? (Paul)
Wonder where the girl is? (Glena)
Gee, I think I forgot to shave this morning! (Carol)
Is she single?? (Gina)

Honorable Mention:
goes to my Mum who entered but can't win: "I could have sworn Lynn would win the last contest!!" Sorry, Mum, you're not winning this one either. I can't look like I'm favoring relatives!

Thanks to everyone who entered. It was really hard to narrow the field and the voting was pretty close.

Queen Symphony cdThe winner will get a brand new CD, still in that shrink-wrap plastic that takes a genius to get off. It's The Queen Symphony, performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, composed and conducted by Tolga Kashif. It's inspired by the music of that great English rock band, Queen.

I'm going to leave the poll up there for a couple of days and then announce the winner Monday night. So stay tuned!

August 2004 Contest Winners and Details

Bracelet for contestCongrats to Donna L. of Arkansas, for winning the bracelet, given away to celebrate my finaling in the Golden Heart, in the Paranormal category. I thought it would be neat to give away an identical copy of the bracelet I wore to the RWA Awards ceremony in Dallas, Texas. I wanted it from the moment I saw it, and yet managed to put off buying it for a month or two, what willpower! Boy, was I glad to find it still there when I went back. It's a pretty silver bracelet with charms inscribed with words: "i hope", "i wish", "i love", "i dream", "i believe". (Bracelet not shown at actual size.)

Nonnie bookCongratulations to Jaynie R. of Victoria Australia, for winning a new copy of double RITA finalist, Nonnie St. George's book The Ideal Bride. It was up for Best Regency and Best First Book. This is a funny, witty book, just like the author who I was thrilled to meet at National this year. Nonnie (pronounced "Noni", I learned) is definitely an author to watch.

May 2004 Contest Winner and Details

Bracelet Congrats to Linda, who has won a sample of Estee Lauder's Beyond Paradise perfume, and a really pretty bracelet with hearts on it (picture to the right). It's not too visible in the picture, but some of the silver beads look like roses.

November 2003 Contest Winner and Details!

After searching for a random number generator online (in the effort of staying electronic and saving paper), it churned out the magical number of 27 which means...

Hearty Congratulations to Trin, who has won Mr Right When You Need HimMr. Right! Ok, ok, so he's a four inch high cut-out figure, but hey, we've all got to start somewhere, right? And as he has a resemblance to my heroes (although perhaps a little too stiff. On second thoughts..... *grin*), he seemed a sure thing. Here's the blurb from the back of the box (another kit from Running Press):

Meet Mr. Right When You Need Him. He won't ogle other women or constantly hum the theme song of SportsCenter. He's handsome, considerate, portable, and comes with a 32-page owner's manual. Includes a Mr. Right doll wth a stand and eight magnetic, interchangeable voice balloons--three blank and five preprinted with such sweet nothings as "May I take you shoe shopping?" and "As always, you're right." Get ready to swoon!

September 2003 Contest Winner and Details

Congratulations to Martha L., who is the winner of my first contest! Her answer was the first correct one, although I got a slew of correct answers towards the end of the contest.

Thank you to everyone who entered. Martha received Passion: Spark Your Romantic Creativity, a mini kit from Running Press which contains a mask, a feather, a spinning sex top with seductive suggestions, and a 32-page book to spark your creativity. The Question Was: What is that strange looking graphic on the right hand side of Leanne's web page?

The correct answer of course was part of a woman's cleavage.

Here are some of the funnier responses:

"Hm...it's not an egg carton with eggs... could it be a three-breasted woman's cleavage...noooo...some other bit of anatomy perhaps...hmm again...well, I guess I'll guess that it's a hand. Looks sort of like blurred knuckles under covers...your writing hand maybe? That's where the "seduction" comes from when you're talking writers anyway...." - Joy.

"It look like either a tooth waiting for a tooth-fairy or somebody's paunch." - Rashmi

"...it also looks like a bald man/woman sitting in a chair!" - Melissa.
